Slingshot Darko
Sizes Available: 134, 138, 142cm
Size Tested: 138×42.4cm

Slingshot Says:

With a completely redesigned base featuring our full wood core and molded channels, the 2013 Darko is the latest in flex technology. This premium core delivers massive pop and power with added stability, faster response, aggressive edging power and maximum durability. Stiffer in the tip and tail, the Darko provides a snappier feel and better response, delivering next-level performance. The new 60/40 High Cap Rail creates more traction on the water and crisper release. With the new, pulled in tip outline, the board carves through any condition from wicked chop to butter smooth swell. Whether you’re looking for hard core freestyle or progressive crossover riding, the Darko is a killer board.

Our Testers Say:

“Goes upwind great and has amazing pop off the water, but the tips threw up quite a bit of spray in the big chop,” Marko Bartscherer.

“Good upwind and the straps were really comfortable,” Walid Jomaa.

“The Darko was one of the top performing boards for pop and was smoother in the chop than I expected. A great board for riders who like more aggressive flex and pop, especially in flatter conditions,” Paul Lang.

Meet the 2013 TKB Test Team.

TKB Says:

The 2013 Slingshot Darko is a relatively wide and stiff board. It features a squarish outline, full wood core, channeled bottom, and the Fastrack system that allows you to adjust the stance to your exact preference. Tester’s commented on the Darko’s great upwind performance and amazing amount of pop.

They also felt it felt like a board that would excel in less choppy conditions than we had for the test and a few testers commented that the square tips threw up spray when going through chop. Compared to the Slingshot Crisis the Darko is stiffer and has much better pop, but is not as smooth through the chop.

The Darko came with the Slingshot Bolt-On 4.0 pads and straps which install very easily to the Fastrack system. The strap and pad is a single unit that most testers found comfortable and easy to adjust. One disadvantage is that the Fastrack uses proprietary hardware, so carry spares in case you lose one of the fasteners.
