Wyoming High Country Lodge is an intimate getaway featuring only six lodge rooms and five cabins nestled in a high alpine meadow of the Bighorn National Forest. From December through April, guests can take advantage of world class snowkiting sites right from the front door. Bring or rent a snowmobile, or let the lodge transport you in one of its snowcats to the areas surrounding Bald Mountain, with excellent terrain for all levels of kiters. After the day’s adventure, delicious meals are served fresh from scratch in the lodge’s beautiful dining area complete with stone fireplace. As the folks at Wyoming High Country like to put it, “Guests check in, but friends check out!”
CLOSEST AIRPORT: Billings, MT. Logan International Airport (BIL)
DISTANCE TO LOCATION: 2-hour drive
TRANSPORT TO LOCATION: To get to the lodge, it’s best to rent a car from Billings Logan Intl Airport. If you can get to Cody there is a shuttle service.
BEST SEASON: December through April
WIND RANGE IN KNOTS: 10-15 knots
AIR AVERAGE: 20°F is average but can range from -25°F to 40°F
LOCAL RULES/SAFETY: The main safety hazard is exposure to harsh weather conditions. Proper clothing and good decision making are a must. For groups of four or more snowkiters, it’s a good idea to book a snowcat and an enclosed trailer; it’s a great shuttle service to the kiting spot and serves as a warm lounge between sessions.
