The F-One Bandit, the original Delta kite, is now in its fourth generation and it has undergone a major redesign for 2011. It is now a three-strut one pump kite with square wingtips.

On kite trips, sometimes you get lucky with wind and sometimes you don’t. From June to December, 98% of the days in northeastern Brazil have 15+ knot winds, so we knew from the start that no luck was necessary for “kite-‘till-it-hurt” riding every day of the trip.

For 2011, the Bandit 4 (B4) has changed considerably with a new shape and bar. For F-One’s 2011 surf program, several new sizes were added and the boards now all feature a double concave bottom. Founder Raphael Salles helps explain what we can expect from the new B4 and F-one’s 2011 surf line.

The most interesting new product from F-One this year is the new Source, which is a 2-line kite that will have no depower.

They would score the swell of the decade, but they were just visitors here. The swell gave the local crew, who grew up poor and learned to ride on donated gear, their chance to shine.

The Bandit 3 got a few upgrades this year that greatly improve the usability of the kite. New for 2010 is a one-pump system and a shorter bridle.

This is the third generation of the original, patent-pending delta design introduced by F.one in 2007 but it is really a new kite with a new profile, outline, aspect ratio, bridle, bar and graphics.
