The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) was alerted early on Sunday following reports of a kite-boarder being swept out to sea at West Beach, Port Alfred. A second man, who had swum out to assist the kite-boarder, had also struggled in the surf.
According to NSRI spokesperson Keryn van der Walt, both men, in their 20s, were swept 200m out to East Beach where they were rescued.
