After seven events on five continents all the results are in: Youri Zoon (NED, Slingshot) and Gisela Pulido (ESP, Airush) are the 2011 world champions. The wind never came up on the last day to run the best trick competition, but everyone enjoyed the beautiful New Caledonian weather and the closing ceremony.
The final heats of the 2011 PKRA season took place at the Nissan Noumea Kitesurf Pro, New Caledonia in perfect conditions with a solid twenty knots of wind. The double elimination was completed today, Alex Pastor (ESP, Airush) won the event in the men’s category and Asia Litwin in the women’s.
The one thing that all the riders agreed on was that the conditions were challenging. This did not stop them from landing an array of great tricks. Unexpectedly, World Champion Youri Zoon (NED, Slingshot) lost against Mario Rodwald (GER, North) in the quarter finals leaving Alex Pastor (ESP, Airsuh) to win the singles today.
The Nissan Noumea Kitesurf Pro started with light wind and a few rain showers but we quickly saw the sun come out and twenty knots of wind. In the morning the trials competition started to qualify the sixteen men who will go on into the main event and face the top eight riders in the world. The trials were dominated by local riders and Australians. In the afternoon the weather cleared up and the first two rounds of men were completed.
The final PKRA event this year will be held in the beautiful lagoon of Noumea in New Caledonia and is confirmed for the following dates: 30th of November until December 4th, with registration of the 29th of November.
