2016 Grand Casino Mille Lacs 12th Annual Mille Lacs Kite Crossing

This years title sponsor, the Grand Casino Mille Lacs is bringing new level of excitement to the Mille Lacs Kite Crossing that will attract top athletes from around the world to compete in North America’s most challenging and longest running snowkite event. Located in central Minnesota, the state’s second largest lake that boast that highest percentage of active snowkiters in the US.
The Mille Lacs Kite Crossing is intended to be a true “Minnesota Adventure Sport Experience” with athletes competing over the three days of competition in the following disciplines, snowkiting freestyle, short sprint races, two 14-mile crossing and finally a grueling 28-mile race across the frozen expanse.
After the first day of competition on Friday night, their will be a welcome reception with live music for the competitors and families. A large bonfire will be held during the day on the lake Saturday and a dinner awards party that evening with more competition Sunday.
This event is Free to the public and is viewable from the shoreline in Garrison.
