Nico Landauer is the 2018 Pacific Coast Champion!

The final three races of the event were sailed in a 6-8 knot southwesterly breeze under sunny skies. With a tight points spread going into Sunday it was anybody’s guess on who would take home the title. Landauer (URU) posted two first place finishes out of three races and scored 4th in the other, securing the victory with a couple points cushion. As a Masters class competitor, Landauer also takes the over 35 title. Noah Zittrer takes the Junior title in fifteenth position overall. Amil Kabil takes the Grandmasters title in ninth overall.

Landauer credits his recent training and just plain luck for his success in the racing on Sunday. “Staying in the pressure and avoiding marine debris was the main thing today.” Sailing against a field of youngsters Landauer chose not to share his secrets for staying young but he did point out, with a wink, that he was the last person at the party on Saturday night.
