This year we have made many changes. The Vision’s shape is now more open which increases the turning speed and provides less bar pressure. The bridles and the pigtails are also shorter and overall the new features distinguish the Vision as a wonderful kite for all freeride and wave riding. All of the high quality finishing details on the kite have remained the same and have included all the various new features as the other kites in the range.

Our Testers Say:
“The Vision is a very stable kite, locks into place after one power stroke and easily absorbs the wind for a fun, steady ride.” // Rhonda Reyna.
“A quick pivoting performance machine that loops like a boss.” // Justin Lord.
“Italian-made, this is some smooth riding on a kite that’s full of design.” // Alejandro Strauss.
It’s been two years since the last time we tested the previous version of the Vision and this year the RRD Vision Mark 5 did not disappoint with its 3-strut medium to lower aspect canopy with slightly swept tips that features a Boston large diameter inflation valve that requires the bigger nozzle that comes standard with all pumps, making inflation and deflation quick and easy. The lightweight 3-strut canopy uses sewn in graphics to further reduce weight and features a number of changes this year for a slightly more active and responsive kite. Testers gave the Vision solid marks for its stable canopy and user-friendly load and pop and equally notable hangtime. This version offers a little lighter bar pressure that comes in at about medium while the swept wingtips help the Vision relaunch from deep within the wind window. As an all around freeride kite, testers recommend this kite for beginner and intermediate kiters looking for a reliable kite to get them on the water and progress with confidence. The RRD comes with the Global Bar V7, single center-line safety depower, fixed length bar with an above the bar tuning cleat with plastic coated center throw/line that incorporates a sliding stopper and a low-V. The push away quick release is a simple mechanism which requires two hands to reset without a quick release shield and a below the bar swivel which may be easier to untwist the center lines before and after the session from the beach. The tuning is an above the bar stainless cleat and the bar features integrated floats and soft bar ends for safety and received solid marks for its simple and reliable design with basic features.
