AXIS Says:

The Vanguard is a freestyle machine. This board wants to be pushed to the absolute limits. With its explosive pop, incredible tracking and smooth landings the Vanguard will deliver the utmost performance in all conditions and excels as you do.

The 2016 Vanguard retains the outline, channels and rocker of the 2015 model, but we have radically redesigned the profile with our new FAT Rail. Thick and rounded in the centre and tapering to fine tips, the FAT Rail gives a more stable, settled and balanced ride, while dramatically increasing the strength of the board. This board is fast, light, flexible and is available in a vast array of dimensions so you can get the size that will feel as if it was custom made for you. Compatible with pads/straps or boots, the Vanguard will meet your freestyle demands and then some.

Meet the 2016 TKB Test Team.

Tkb Says:

The Vanguard is back with a very significant change for 2016 – fatter, semi-rolled rails in the mid section of the board. The Vanguard features five holes for adjusting duck in the bindings and three options for adjusting stance width, but on the water you will notice that the thicker rails are more fun and forgiving for carving and you can feel the roll from rail to rail. Testers noted that the Vanguard felt nice to lay into a turn and while it may not have the same construction as the Limited, it was still extremely playful and fun in the waves while delivering in the load and pop department. This board tracked upwind really well, and felt extremely solid in the water. The pad/footbed is the same as those offered on the other Axis boards with a firm but comfy rubbery textured grip under foot. The Traction straps are a single Velcro adjustment pad that certainly work and are comfortable, but doesn’t provide the same amount of all encompassing support you get from the dual adjustment Traction + straps on other models.
