The world’s best park riders have all gathered at the first Asia’s 1st kite park for a newly inaugural event! Hosted by Blue Palawan in Puerto Princessa on the beautiful Palawan Island in the Philippines from January 13th-19th. With three separate disciplines: sliders, kickers and freestyle, riders hit the water on day 1 just as the wind picked up after a sunny poolside breakfast and skippers meeting. For the first round of heats, after a quick warmup session, competitors hit the North Kiteboarding Fun Box. Separated into heats of 4-5 competitors, each rider got three attempts to hit the feature on their starboard tack and then again on their port tack for an accumulative score of their two highest hits. Shortly after completing the starboard round of heats, the wind slightly backed off and competition was called for the day with action to be resumed tomorrow morning.
