Ocean Rodeo Says:

While the 17 and 14.5 remain two of the world’s best high performance light wind kites, the smaller 12 and 10 introduce a whole new class of X-Over Freeride experience to the Ocean Rodeo lineup. The Flite offers riders of all levels an explosive and dynamic kite designed to make you feel and ride like a hero. Tight snappy turns, big lofty jumps and loops that won’t kill you if you miss the landing all help you ride with greater confidence and ease under the careful eye of a kite designed to put a smile on your face, no matter what the conditions.

Our Testers Say:

“Loads of wind range, responds quickly when totally depowered, light bar pressure, easy to boost. Has the low end of a kite one or two meters bigger with the agility of a small kite,” Dray Murray.

“Smooth Action Jackson! Fast, efficient, light kite with great boost and easy loops, depower strap is way up high,” Davey Beard.

“Small bar inputs resulted in big kite reactions; very responsive with excellent boost and great for tight turns and loops,” John Steimle.

TKB Says:

The Flite is Ocean Rodeo’s medium to high aspect 3-strut light wind freeride kite that we were able to test in the smaller sizes. The Flite comes with the standard 9mm/11m dump valve inflation system, a medium length single setting fixed front bridle and two steering settings on the wingtip. Testers praised the Flite for its excellent upwind ability, impressive boosting and hang time performance as well as its quick pivot-style turns. Testers commented on the Flite’s lighter bar pressure and impressive range and recommend this as a great freeride kite for riders of all skill levels.

The Ocean Rodeo offers two types of bar: Above the Bar and Below the Bar. Our Flite came with the Above the Bar setup which is a fixed length bar with a double center-line safety depower system, high V, spectra sheeting/throw line, a two part sliding stopper, and an above the bar Clam cleat with integrated bungee to keep excess slack from tangling in depowered conditions. The push away quick release is simple and straightforward with a travel guard but no below the bar hand swivel. Testers liked the bar’s smaller diameter and firmer grip, which has lots of texture and raised ridges at your fingers. The retractable winding bungee and simple bar ends made for a clean and quick put away.
