JN Mr. Fantastic
Sizes Available: 4.5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16m
Sizes Tested: 10, 12, 16m

JN Says:

The 3rd generation Mr. Fantastic offers a very powerful kite surface while easily covering a wide wind range and offers superior handling with a simple and refined 4-line set up. Effortless On/Off power generation, simple relaunch for beginners, and for the more experienced freeriders and those that love the surf you’ll enjoy the tight and fast turns, stable and well balanced flying characteristics.

Mr. Fantastic is shaped with a “swept back” leading edge, which allows the rider to adjust the angle of approach but without the loss of direct steering. Mr. Fantastic offers increased wind range, more depower through a perfectly adapted bridle setup, enhanced low wind performance by an optimized effective area, and suits everyone from beginner to professional through its easy handling, high jumps with great floaty hangtime, direct and responsive steering.

Our Testers Say:

“Super responsive and smooth, bar pressure is medium with good upwind ability, fast turns and good hangtime,” Ernesto Lucero.

“The 16m looks good and flies super stable with decent upwind ability for its size and turns like most big kites,” Michael Doucet.

“Good power, good steering response with easy relaunch, bar grip is aggressive while the excess tuning line dangles when the kite is depowered,” Stan Mihaylov.

JN-FANTASTIC-2015-GEAR-REVIEW-02

TKB Says:

The 2015 Mr. Fantastic is a 5-strut medium to low aspect four-line freeride kite in the smaller sizes and a 1-strut in the 16m size that uses the standard 9mm/11m dump valves for inflation, and a single setting fixed front bridle with two steering settings on the wingtip. Testers gave the Mr Fantastic solid marks for stability, fast turning, and boosting ease in the smaller sizes, with respectable boost in the larger sizes. Testers felt all the sizes generated solid low-end pull with a surprisingly good wind range and generally offered predictable and responsive turning speed. Some testers commented on Mr. F’s easy relaunch, good gust-handling performance and all around user-friendly handling.

JN-FANTASTIC-BAR-2015-GEAR-REVIEW-04

The “Mr. F” comes with the Master’s Craft Control Bar which is an dual adjustable length bar which can be used as four or five line bar. The Master Craft uses a single center-line safety depower system, plastic coated sheeting/throw line, above the bar clam cleat, a push away quick release that separates into two pieces and has a built in travel guard and tunable outside lines under the floats. Testers commented on the aggressive grip pattern and the excess tuning slack which can tangle while riding.
