The Snowkite Soldier event in Fairfield, Idaho provides access to some of the best snowkiting in North America. The terrain in Fairfield has it all, from rolling hills to huge cliff drops and extreme avalanche slopes, there is something for everyone. Despite having no wind on Friday and Saturday, Spirits where high and the Slider Project L.L.C. setup sliders for everyone to session. The mood was elevated as Sunday delivered a light steady breeze and was enough to satisfy the kiting addiction.
The highlight of the event is a poker run. Where kiters race to a checkpoint and pick up a card. As with traditional poker, the best hand wins and the stakes were high with a 2010 Naish kite on the table for the winner. Event organizers Monty and Trisha Goldman did an exceptional job and everyone who attended enjoyed the local’s hospitality. Be sure to mark the dates on your calendar for next year.
