This Week:

Kite Racing continues to grow but nowhere is this segment of kiteboarding flourishing like in the San Francisco Bay Area. Four years ago, John Gomes, a native California and resident of San Francisco, decided to develop a way to race kites over a course so that no judges are required – the first rider to cross the finish line is the champion. This effort has grown into the Cabrinha Race Series held over the summer every Thursday at Crissy Field, and the US Nationals Kiteboarding Championship in Kite Racing, now in its second year. John is our special guest this week and will be joining us to talk about the growth of kite racing, the evolution of racing gear, and the upcoming US Nationals competition, sponsored by the St. Francis Yacht Club, taking place at Crissy Field from June 9 through the 15.
