Slingshot Says:

In its fourth generation, the 2014 Rally is the most versatile kite ever produced. The Rally delivers incredible wind range along with proven high-end performance for freeriding and surf conditions.

For 2014 the new Rally is faster, more maneuverable, and offers better low-end power making it the most efficient and user friendly kite in the world. The 2014 Rally boasts an updated airframe featuring our own unique patented Splitstrut construction making it the most stable kite in the industry. Each size is more powerful and efficient than last year with a new aspect ratio. The bomber construction on the Rally focuses on Surf Tough Seams to create more strength and structure throughout the canopy. It also helps to isolate any damage making repair easy. Our Tri-Tech Protection includes Ballistic Kevlar, Mark Cloth, and Neoprene strategically placed in the most vulnerable areas of the kite to optimize durability. We do all of this to make sure you don’t ever miss a session.

Our Testers Say:

“Rock solid stable in the sky, nice loft for jumps, with great power range through sheeting and it’s easy to feel the kite’s location in the sky,” Eric McAuliffe.

“Love the volcano grip, pivotal and quick turns with good low end pull,” Dray Murray.

“This is the Swiss Army knife of kites that does everything well. Rips upwind and drifts downwind, total ego booster for aerial jumps but best for slashing waves,” Laird Davis.

Meet the 2014 TKB Test Team.

TKB Says:

The 2014 Rally is a medium aspect 5-strut (including 2 wingtip mini-struts) delta hybrid shape that Slingshot markets as their freeride and wave kite. The Rally features Slingshot’s sturdy build quality, standard 9mm inflation / 11mm dump valve, unique split strut construction and medium to longer length front bridles. Testers liked the Rally’s medium bar pressure, impressive range with quick pivot style turns and above average hangtime. Overall, testers praised the Rally for its downwind drift, all around user-friendly performance and recommended this kite for riders of all levels as a great freeride and surfing kite.

SLINGSHOT-RALLY-CONTROL-BAR-2014-GEAR-REVIEW

The Rally came with the Compstick fixed length bar (43, 50, 58.5cm) which features a newly designed push away quick release, below bar tuning cleat, above bar swivel, sliding stopper and single center-line safety depower. Some testers were critical of below bar tuning in general, but Slingshot’s design is very clean and allows for a large adjustable throw length for any sized rider while keeping the controls close. Hooking in with the adjuster on the rider’s dominant hand side as well as making adjustments while the bar is sheeted out makes this system easy to use and may persuade below-bar critics. Testers praised the center insert’s raised “volcano” edges for keeping fingers away from the depower line for comfort and safety as well as the OS handles which double as a Velcro attachment for keeping the bar securely wrapped up.
