IKA has released a press release today announcing that they have proposed a Formula Kite class for kiteboarding Olympic competition. This is a box rule meaning that any equipment that meets the IKA's guidelines can be used.
Today the International Sailing Federation voted to include kiteboarding in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Not only is kiteboarding in, but windsurfing is out as there are a limited number of medals that can be given to sailing sports.
In a press release, the IKA has announced today that competitors who participate in non-IKA/ISAF contests will not be eligible to compete in IKA events. This means that riders who compete in KPWT events will not be able to also compete in PKRA events.
