Baja is an incredible natural paradise that offers deserted islands with sandy beaches, steady winds, abounding animals above and below the water, and a chance to step back in time. Palapas Ventana has created a Kite Cat liveaboard that adventures out into the ‘aquarium of the world’ and retraces Steinbeck’s footsteps but with a new mission in mind—finding Kite Paradise. You’ll experience remote kite spots, secluded anchorages, schools of dolphins playing on the bow, close encounters with whales, sandy point launches, flat water lagoon kiting, skiff-supported downwinders, incredible food, drink and service, morning snorkels with sea lions and mobula rays, fishing and spearfishing, hiking, beachcombing, special meals on deserted beaches, and campfires ashore. The magic of this trip is the incredible mix of top-notch kite sessions with just your group in the water and the nature experiences and wow factor that accent each day. Experience a whole different world down in Baja aboard a liveaboard catamaran kiteboard expedition that island hops through the Sea of Cortez.

WHY TIM HATLER RECOMMENDS THIS SPOT: I’m a boat and tall ship captain turned Baja resort owner/operator for the last 16 years. I’m excited to showcase kiting in La Ventana as well as the remote windy points, bays, and channels on the Kite Cat. It’s getting more fun every year!
