Snow kiters from 30 nations worldwide are ready for the 100 km long Red Bull Ragnarok on Hardangervidda, Norway this weekend.
Red Bull Ragnarok returns this weekend for the ninth edition of the world’s longest and hardest snow kite race. And the 100 km long challenge on the mountain slopes in Norway’s greatest national park is more popular than ever, with more than 70 percent of the tickets sold to international kiters. This weekend will gather kiters from far away countries like the Philippines, Mexico, Lebanon, Russia, USA, Australia, as well as a huge number of European kite enthusiasts.

Return of the champions
Two previous winners are returning to defend their title as kings and queens of Ragnarok. Four-time world champion Steph Bridge (44) from Great Britain will attempt to secure a new Ragnarok gold medal in the women’s ski category. Canadian Peter Martel (30) won the race in both 2016 and in 2018, and is a clear favorite in the men’s snowboard category. The Norwegian freeskier, Tiril SjÃ¥stad Christiansen, will also participate in Red Bull Ragnarok this year, for the first time.

Tough conditions
This year’s Ragnarok may turn out to be one of the toughest yet. Conditions have been challenging in the last few days, with mild weather and sticky snow. Planned race start is Friday at 10 am CET, but the unpredictable weather of the Norwegian mountains may push the race to Saturday or even Sunday.
