Over the last decade, the La Ventana Classic has made a real difference in the community, thanks to your help. Kiteboarders, windsurfers, stand up paddleboarders and now mountain bikers from all over converge on the Sea of Cortez’s playground for fierce and fun competitions followed by amazing dinners and raging parties for five days of pure unadulterated fun, while raising money for a great cause. This year, $35,350 was raised at the 2018 event which benefits Amigos de Alumnos, a local program which provides locals 3-year high school scholarships. Fundraising efforts now support over 40 local teenagers and also paid for a transportation bus for local disabled students.
Get ready for another great year! The 11th annual La Ventana Classic (LVC) kicks off on Wednesday, January 16 at the Hot Springs in La Ventana with Kitexpo gears demos, a PRO CLINIC offered by Sensi Graves and Colleen Carroll, and the infamous Baja Joe’s/Elevation Kiteboarding Party Island Downwinder Poker Run, and runs through Sunday, January 20. Demo participants for 2019 include Airush, Slingshot/Ride Engine, Cabrinha, Flysurfer and Blade Kiteboarding. The event opens at 10a, Kitexpo demos start at 11a and the event ends daily around 5p before the nighttime dinners and parties.
