There’s an old saying that diversity is the key to success and by the early 1990s, the Pryde Group starting doing just that. Having established a leading windsurfing brand, the company diversified into wetsuits. NeilPryde-branded wetsuits launched in 1992, backed by what may be the company’s most famous ad ever, ‘the naked man.’
Their first purpose-made wetsuits for windsurfers were cut to accommodate riders’ arms and legs when in the windsurfing position, which was completely different from the patterns being produced by the surf industry at that time. Combined with the controversial ad, the new wetsuit got everybody’s attention and almost overnight, NeilPryde was established as a cutting-edge brand with real legitimacy in the wetsuit market.
