Raptor’s construction layup combines multi axial fiberglass and brand new X carbon. This construction is a little bit softer than the previous Raptor boards, making it more comfortable. The X carbon provides for plenty of pop to pull off tricks. Light Up sidewalls are stronger and lighter than ever with an attractive color changing look.

The Raptor is back for another year as CrazyFly’s performance freeride board in their standard construction. The Raptor features three stance width adjustments and around 10 options for adjusting duck stance. The bottom shape of the Raptor is the same as last year and features a fair amount of bottom shaping that gives the board a ton of directional grip while riding. Combined with its good sized fins, the Raptor has a fairly solid grippy feeling when you set an edge, although the Raptor is not quite as locked in as the Crazy Fly Shox we tested. The Raptor feels fast through the water, and while it doesn’t feature the carbon construction of the LTD, the Raptor feels very active, light and playful for its standard construction. The flex seems a hair bit stiffer than the LTD version but overall a very solid balance for the average kiteboarder’s load and pop fun factor. In the end, if you have the cash we’d recommend going the distance with the lighter LTD version of this board, but if you love the freeride fun factor of the shape and money is a consideration, then go with the Raptor as it is no slouch that holds its own against the boards in regular construction category of twin tips.
The Raptor came with the Hexa pad and strap system which received high praise from our testers for all around comfort and adjustability. The footbed features a fair amount of heel cup in the back, some gentle contours under the arch and solid toe grip up front to keep your foot in place during big moves. The dot-style grip EVA on the pad is grippy and strikes an excellent balance between plush and density factor to maintain solid control of the board with enough cushion for hard landings or pounding through the worst chop.
