Liquid Force Says:

Departures from the norm and outside of the box thinking are what bring strides in next generation product development. We have reached a point where the Envy is one of the most user friendly, versatile, kites on the market. The 8th version of the Envy is now here with a complete new profile and airframe geometries that has produced prolific improvements in kite input back to the rider. With his new shape, there is a reduction of wingtip flaring, allowing the kite to move faster through the wind window and reduce light wind back stalling. The leading edge diameter has become more tuned in shape by reducing the diameter in key areas.
The NV V8 utilizes a new bridle schematic that includes a V load transfer connection. This connection eliminates canopy distortion and creates a more stable bridge of bridle connection points supporting the LE. The NV still retains its legendary stability, its easy to predict on/off feel and bombproof construction, while holding the position as one of the most versatile cross condition and riding style kites on the market. From pro freestyler, to wave seeker, or the weekend warrior, the NV will perform beyond expectations.

TKB Says:

The first thing we noticed when we pulled the NV out of the bag is the lightweight feel of this kite in your hand. The NV is a 3-strut medium to low aspect C-shaped kite with significantly swept back wingtips that Liquid Force markets as an all around freeride and freestyle machine that meets the needs of unhooked, big air freestyle and surf disciplines. All LF kites come with one of the quickest inflation systems, the MaxFlow large diameter inflation valve which requires a proprietary LF pump nozzle (the NV also has a standard 9mm valve if you lose the extra wide nozzle that comes with every kite and attaches to the standard pump hose). The NV features a single setting front bridle with no pulleys and three wingtip settings. The connection points use a loop on the front bridle pigtails and knots on the wingtip pigtails. The NV features medium bar pressure with the power having a generally progressive feel through the length of the bar throw. Initiating turns takes a little extra bar input, but the steering response is fairly crisp and very predictable. The turning speed is quick but not scary and the across the window speed is fairly fast especially as you jump onto the 5m. The NV feels incredibly forgiving when it comes to over-sheeting the bar (pulling it too far towards you) in underpowered conditions and the kite features impressive depower when you sheet the bar all the way out. The NV in the smallest size can be a little on/off and works best on the higher winds of its range and the 7m impressed us with its range; it had a fair amount of grunt that could get you through the lulls of a fading evening session. Overall the NV has a very easy-to-use feel that makes high wind/smoke on the water days both manageable and fun.

The NV came with the all new Mission Control bar which is a ground up redesign with an entirely new roster of features while keeping the bar simple and lightweight. The Mission Control features an adjustable length bar (45/55cm), durable PU coated sheeting/throw line, no sliding stopper, and a single center-line safety depower with a low V, and a stainless steel depower cam cleat with Velcro to keep the depower control toggle from tangling. TKB-FREERIDE-2017-LF-BAR-2804The Mission Control comes with a new quick release design that features a below the bar hand swivel/release shield integrated into a push away quick release that more often than not clicks into an auto reset position that makes reassembly on the water rather easy. The center lines end in a knot and the outside lines end in loops; throw length is no longer adjustable and floats are no longer integrated into the bar ends for a more flexible connection between the bar and the outside lines. The tips of the bar are soft and the outside leader lines allow riders to adjust the length of the outside lines for stretch or tuning. Our team liked the smooth narrow diameter bar with rubbery grip and commented on the combo of a feature-rich package in an overall lightweight design.
