STFYC Kite Race Series: May 18th, 2017

Oh boy, it does not get much better than that. Thursday, May 18th marked the third night of the season and the conditions could not have been better. 25 knots at Anita rock made for some exciting (and fast) racing. Most of the fleet was on 8-11m kites which means 25 knots upwind and 30+ downwind bringing exciting racing right to the beach at Crissy!Johnny Heineken took the night again (1,2,1), but tonight Joey Pasquali (2,1,2) was able to strip the second race off him ending his undefeated reign. Third for the night went to Daniela Moroz (3,4,4). It was only a matter of time until the next generation showed up the old guys; For two Thrusday nights in a row, Daniela has proven that she has found a 7th gear, volume to 11”¦ buckle gents, she is coming for you (for the 5 guys in the world she isn’t already beating). Stefaans Viljon (4,5,4) came in fourth for the night, showing that on the windy nights, consistency is key. Out of towner Matt Taggart (5,3,8) rounded out the top five with some impressive downwind legs.Thank you to the race committee and a special shout out to first time Pro Paul Heineken for running 3 flawless races.
