Excited kiteboarders returned for a second day of demoing at the wide open beaches of Pismo  Beach at the 15th annual XBA Kitexpo. By noon, the prevailing thermal wind had made its way onshore with solid waist to head high waves. Kiteboarders scrambled to get out to ride in the ideal conditions.

Many of the kiteboarding brands pro riders ventured out to put on a fantastic display of their skills in the fun Central Coast classic spring conditions. James Ropner, Teddy Lyons and Chris Bobryk showed spectators how far you can push the limits of kiteboarding up close.

By late afternoon exhausted riders made their way back to the shoreline in time to smell the sweet aroma of the BBQ meal being prepared by the Oceano Jr Lifeguards to benefit their summer jr. lifeguard program which was just formed in 2013. As quickly as they had rigged up, participants packed up their gear and made their way up to the registration area for the start of the raffle. Excited kiteboarders cheered as Marina Chang called out the numbers and names of the winning tickets.

As the last raffle ticket was called, the crowd eager to eat was treated to a savory meal and afterwards to a special viewing of a yet to be released Cabrinha South Africa movie, North’s Evolution of Strapless Kiteboarding short video and Red Bull’s Chapter One. Folks settled around the bonfire and enjoyed a keg of local IPA sponsored by LED board light company Aqua Volta as they watched the spectacular footage by some of the industry’s  top international pro riders. Sunday’s forecast is rock solid for 15-25+ knot conditions with a 7-9 foot windswell.
