Spring has arrived and so has the sunshine, wind and waves, just in time for the annual XBA KiteXpo, April 21-23, 2017. Our biggest to date, so far, we have 19 participating vendors with new kites, boards and harnesses for you to try out. We even have a new LED board light company and WERZ weather station (from France!) coming and of course, an insane silent auction and daily raffles.
Come enjoy the biggest demo event this side of the Mississippi and help make a difference by supporting one of the Oceano Jr. Lifeguard’s Summer Program fundraising events. Brands so far include:

The Pismo KiteXpo has been renamed the XBA KiteXpo, in memory of Kinsley ThomasWong of Xtreme Big Air, the event’s founder. To continue spreading Kinsley’s stoke for life and watersports, the KiteXpo is now also a fundraiser for the Oceano Jr. Lifeguard Summer Program. Please help us support this organization by attending our Friday night April 21 winemaker dinner with $500 drawing for Vela Gift Certificate (invitation at https://evite.me/8mwZtJBzHv) or Saturday night BBQ on the beach at the event site (tickets on sale at event only, limited to 100 on first come, first serve basis).

SATURDAY NIGHT BBQ, 6p, EVENT SITE: The Oceano Jr. Lifeguards and volunteers will be cooking up a storm to help provide scholarships for needy south county kids that want to but can’t afford to participate in the summer program. Tickets on sale at event only starting on Friday! Meal tbd, $15 pp
PARKING: There in NO PUBLIC PARKING ON THE BEACH ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE RAMP (right). For a $5/day daily beach access fee, you can park on the SOUTH SIDE (left) side of the ramp BEHIND the fence. You will need 4wd for spots closer to the dunes. DO NOT BREAK THE FENCE. Anyone parking in front of the fence will be ticketed!
DEMO/HOURS: This event is still FREE to the public. To demo, you MUST be an intermediate or better kiter, be able to go upwind consistently, adhere to right of way and right of wave rules, be able to self rescue, be comfortable riding in crowded conditions and be able to perform a basic trick proficiently, like a jump or spin. Demo hours are 12p to 5p daily. Registration hours are 10a to 3p daily (Sunday 10a – 2p). You must sign a WAIVER AND PROVIDE CC INFORMATION TO DEMO.
Each demo participant will be given a plastic card with participating vendors’ logos on it which you need to attach to your wetsuit zipper or harness with a supplied zip tie. For each brand you demo, you will get a sticker. If you demo all the companies, you will be entered for a special drawing! Details tbd at event. For questions, please contact [email protected]
