The Columbia Gorge delivered another sunny and windy day for the competitors of the 2016 Hood Jam. Starting the day off with heat selections, riders ro-sham-bo’d for their seating as a tribute to the original Slider Project park event, The Ro Sham Throwdown.
Once heat selections were made, organizers decided to hold off on running heats due to the variable wind conditions and also to give riders the opportunity to freeride and warm up on the brand new feature in the park making it’s maiden voyage Saturday morning, the Cabrinha Transfer Box.
Other more temporary additions were added to the park today with 2015 Hood Jam MVP Builder, Sam Medysky, spearheading the retrofitting of a flat corrugated tube to the existing North Kiteboarding Cheesewedge. With the days new additions, you can expect to see action on all 5 features in the park which include the Full Sail Kicker, the Slingshot Kicker, the North Kiteboarding Cheese Wedge to corrugated, the North Kiteboarding Up-Down and the Cabrinha Transfer Box.
With the park now dialed in and riders warmed up and eager to get heats underway, it is likely that the main competition will start Sunday at midday. Make sure to keep a close eye on The Slider Project facebook page for the latest event updates and images.
