The Over drive belongs to the breed of boards that hedge the bet between freestyle performance and light wind ability and land squarely on the side of user-friendly carving with excellent load and pop. Will this board have the same early planing/glide/volume of an oversized plank? No, but if you combine this with a 17m Solo and 12 knots of wind you are going to end up having a whole lot of fun. The Over Drive sports a fairly simple bottom shape with single concave that feels fairly grippy through the water, yet very lively with a fair amount of flex and good pop. We love the smooth footbed with ribbed toe texture, the three stance width settings and four duck stance adjustments in the straps. The Over Drive is a very capable board for the light wind kiter that just isn’t ready to sacrifice the freestyle in their session.
