The 2016 Slingshot Refraction features a simple bottom with some channels in the tips. It’s super wide with small fins and a ton of rocker for those heavy freestyle landings. The Refraction can be a little bit fidgety in the chop with its small fins but that is expected of a core freestyle/park/rail board. It’s super skatey when you’re not on edge which is great for freestyle, but when you put enough back foot pressure and use the rail to track it flies up wind. The Refraction is on the heavier side due to its thicker wood core and for core freestyle this board might be better mated with boots for the ultimate control, but with the right user it will deliver insane pop. There are five duck stance options along a sliding track for infinite width options but testers noted that it would be beneficial if the sliding track had measurement notations. Our Refraction came with plush, single adjustment straps and medium density pads that received solid praise from testers.
