Goodwinds, at Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, is pleased to announce that the first annual Dorado Kite Experience (DKE) event hosted the weekend of January 28th-31st, 2016 was a total success. This year’s weekend celebration brought together participants from mainland US and local Puerto Rican kitesurfing aficionados.
The Dorado Kite Experience offered a variety of programs and activities that catered to different levels of kitesurf experience – from private lessons for beginners to advanced clinics that included wave riding, foil boarding, free style kite surfing and more.
Among some of the clinics, Nick Leason, Co-Founder of MHL and Lift Foil boards joined the event and provided the group asneak peek of his latest innovation, the Lift training foil board. This new board with a shorter strut, made it very accessible for first timers.
Mixing kitesurfing with networking, the Dorado Kite Experience included morning coffee talks and elegant beach front dinner parties, where locals and visiting participants had the opportunity to create meaningful connections.
As Karla Barrera, Owner of Goodwinds, pointed out: “The DKE participants were thrilled about their experience. Recent studies for the luxury travel industry, have pointed out that the biggest trend in the past year has been that discerning luxury travelers are searching for unique experiences. I believe Dorado Beach is on the verge of becoming the Caribbean choice for this type of kite surfer and traveler. As the participants of the DKE got to experience, Dorado Beach has world class kitesurfing and surfing conditions matched with the highest level of luxury in accommodation, being a Ritz Carlton Reserve. The participants were also amazed by the ease of getting here, with no passport requirements, direct flights from most mainland hubs, and the San Juan International Airport and the Isla Grande private airport just being 30 minutes away from the Resort. The combination of all these elements is just priceless and the participants are already looking forward to next year’s event.”
