Goodwinds at Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve will host the first annual Dorado Kite Experience (DKE) event during the weekend of January 28th-31st, 2016. The intimate weekend celebration will feature private kitesurf instruction, advanced kitesurfing workshops, luxurious dinner parties, business conferences and 5-Star accommodation.
Organized by Goodwinds Owner and Windsurf Olympian, Karla Barrera-Morstad, the Dorado Kite Experience will offer a variety of programs that cater to different levels and will focus on kitesurfing instruction of the highest level. Beginner kiters will join Goodwinds instructors Steve Leslie, Chris Shenton, North Kiteboarding National team rider, Danny Barnette and Best Kite Boarding National team riders, Dave Serrano and Austin Waclo, for one on one instruction.
Intermediate to advanced kitesurfers will participate in a series of workshops that promise to use some of the most innovative teaching techniques, lead by the owner of Goodwinds and current WOO Highest Jump World Record holder, Phil Morstad, in conjunction with Goodwinds’ Head Instructor and professional kitesurfer, Andy Hurdman. As part of one of the clinics titled The WOOrkshop, participants will receive WOO devices to be used during the event to track their progress in combination with video review to learn how to jump higher and land softer.
Nick Leason, Co-Founder of MHL and Lift Foil boards will be joining the event and providing the group with a sneak peek of the latest foilboard technology. Additionally, during the Lift Workshop, participants will learn how to get started and the basics of foilboard riding.
With the goal of highlighting Puerto Rico’s positive features, the Dorado Kite Experience will also include morning Coffee Talks featuring the tax incentives and business opportunities that the island is offers to investors, in addition to a session where local entrepreneurs will pitch their projects and business ideas to the DKE participants.
