The Zephyr is a ground breaking kite and without doubt was the first light wind specific kite on the market that delivered both performance and handling. The latest generation Zephyr incorporates elements of the performance dominating Edge along with the ease of the previous Zephyr to fly and relaunch.
The Zephyr has a crisp powerful feeling and a direct positive bar feel, with instant power delivery and superior up wind performance. It has a very large wind range, which means if the wind picks up you can comfortably stay out on the water. These attributes make it perfect for cruising, practicing new school moves or honing your strapless airs. Kite loops are smooth and easy, while the boost is impressive and floaty.

Our Testers Say:
“Very well made high aspect kite. Great kite for use with a fast board, goes upwind almost like a race kite, doesn’t have a ton of low-end when you stall your board speed between sets in onshore surf, but the kite is overall very stable and the controls are great with perfect bar pressure,” Marko Bartscherer.
The Zephyr is one of the original designs in modern ultra low-wind kite technology. Taking a page from Ozone’s race kite, the Zephyr offers a higher aspect 5-strut approach to the light wind equation, with only one size (17m) in this model. Testers gave the Zephyr high praise for its solid turning speed, light to medium bar pressure and head turning upwind ability for an inflatable. Compared to Ozone’s other kite in our test, the ram-air Chrono, the Zephyr offers faster turning speed, sheet in and go style trim and a reliable water relaunch that comes with an inflatable. Testers recommend the Zephyr for riders that want a kite that will help you stay upwind with comfortable bar pressure and good turning speed.
The Zephyr came with the Contact Control System (38, 45, 50, 55cm). This clean yet functional bar features a single center line safety depower, plastic coated depower/throw line, and an above bar depower cleat. The push away quick release features a hand operated quick release swivel that doubles as a travel guard. New for this year are the molded foam floats and integrated bar ends featuring a hidden bungee for a clean put away. Testers approved of the functional yet simple layout of the bar and liked the new bar ends for comfort and ease of de-rigging.
