Liquid Force Says:

The SOLO evolved through multiple iterations from half struts to battens that eventually led to a very thin, low profile center strut. Our dream that became a vision is now a reality called the SOLO, An ultra light weight, single strut design that offers unparallel efficiency, stability and wind range of any kite on the market today with the added benefit of pack ability for travel. We are excited to introduce the SOLO, an all terrain kite that can be summed up in 3 words: simple, powerful, fun!

Our Testers Say:

“This kite rocks in ultra light wind; the Solo was the first kite out in 9mph and I couldn’t even believe I was kiting! This kite is a no brainer to fly and will for sure increase the number of your sessions, although at this size the high-end range is a little limited, but for what its designed for it did really good,” Clint Sterba.

LIQUIDFORCE-SOLO-LW-GEAR-REVIEW-2015-03

TKB Says:

The Solo was last year’s exciting innovation in the light wind segment, and for this year Liquid Force has added the 17.5 size to the Solo stable. The Solo is not the first in the single strut game, but the 17.5 brings an amazing combination of low end power, turning performance and physics-defying relaunches in the lowest of winds. This kite combined with a foilboard was able to take our staff into the 5-10 knot spectrum while everyone else was standing on a hot beach. As our key tester indicates, a canopy of this size framed by a single strut doesn’t fair that well when overpowered, but that is to be expected of a light wind weapon that will bring you hours of wet enjoyment in the lowest of threshold winds.

LIQUIDFORCE-SOLO-BAR-2015-GEAR-REVIEW-04

The Solo comes with the all new Response Control Bar which is a one size fits all adjustable length bar (46 and 56cm) that can be adjusted on the water. The Response Control bar features a single center-line safety depower, spectra sheeting/throw line with a sliding stopper, low V, above the bar cam cleat that is easily adjusted to accommodate longer throw length without disturbing the kite’s tuning, as well as a Velcro tuning line which keeps tuning slack from tangling under depowered conditions. The push away quick release is easy to reassemble with two hands and integrates a below the bar hand swivel that doubles as a travel guard and a molded loop and finger lock. There’s an above the bar swivel, the integrated bar ends have a hidden winder bungee and the bar allows riders to adjust the length of the outside lines for stretch or tuning. Testers liked the ergonomic grip, plush density of the texture bar and praised the adjustability and ease of use of the Response in a relatively lightweight and clean design.
