Tkb Says:

The problem with self-filmed videos is that despite the extreme wide angle perspective of the GoPro, it’s still very challenging to capture all the action with just a helmet or chest mounted camera. This is where the CU2Pack shines with its extended booms that place the camera far enough from the body to capture the rider, the board and the kite, all in one shot. Over the years we’ve seen a couple different rudimentary DIY filming contraptions, but WIZMOUNT is the first to offer a turn-key backpack filming rig which is both easy to use, inexpensive and comfortable to wear.

When we first opened up our CU2Pack, we consulted the directions to determine which arm went where, but overall the setup is intuitive and allows for a number of very creative camera angles. We recommend having an extra set of hands when you first construct the CU2Pack, as it’s much easier to have a model wear the rig while you adjust the booms and the direction of the camera to get the exact framing of the shot you want.

The configuration allows you to extend the arm from the left or right side, or you can configure the booms to extend up over your head. The booms connect via a clamp which is easily adjusted and there’s a metal pan and tilt joint at the base of the GoPro that allows you to dial in the shot. The backpack is comfortable with plenty of padding in the arch of the back to protect you from the rigid internal frame, and it’s best to synch down the shoulder and waist straps to minimize the movement of the pack and the camera.

TIPS & TRICKS

  • When you setup the booms, make sure you place the camera away from the area your kite bar and lines tend to go.
  • Make sure you periodically wipe the splash drops off your GoPro lens, otherwise your footage will be blotchy.
  • Look at your GoPro for the blinking light . . . reverse recording is a bummer!
