OZONE-REO-2015-GEAR-REVIEW-01

OZONE Reo
Sizes Available: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12m
Sizes Tested: 9m

Ozone Says:

The Reo is designed specifically for surfing waves with a kite. Versatile performance makes all conditions, from on-shore slop to cross-off barreling reef breaks, fun and easy. The relatively low aspect design combined with fast direct handling generates consistent power to get around sections in a wave. Finely tuned profiles and wing shaping offer unmatched drifting characteristics – as you ride down the line the Reo will float allowing more concentration lining up the next section. De-powering the Reo is smooth and efficient, canopy luff is progressive which means the kite maintains positive bar pressure and handling throughout the de-power throw range, making the kite very reactive throughout the range.

Our Testers Say:

“Smooth turning, predictable with average boost but strapless riders will love this kite,” Jason Kane.

“Very even pull from all parts of the window,” Davey Beard.

“Great all around kite with good steering response, super stable and drifts really well,” India Stephenson.

OZONE-REO-2015-GEAR-REVIEW-02

TKB Says:

The Reo is a 3-strut lower to medium aspect kite which inflates easily with a high flow Boston valve that requires the larger inflation nozzle, featuring a single setting fixed front bridle and three steering settings on the wingtip. Testers gave the Reo high praise for its predictable turning, easy handling and smooth power delivery. A little lower aspect and featuring a different profile than the Catalyst, the Reo drifts downwind easily and creates even power in the center of the window. With middle of the road boosting, testers recommended the Reo for freeride and casual freestyle with an emphasis on wave riding.

OZONE-REO-BAR-2015-GEAR-REVIEW-04

Ozone didn’t have the 2015 Contact Control System in stock in time for our test so we tested the Reo with last year’s bar which is a fixed length bar (45, 50, 55cm). This clean yet functional bar features a single center line safety depower, plastic coated depower/throw line, and an above bar depower cleat. The push away quick release features a hand operated quick release swivel that doubles as a travel guard. Testers liked the simplicity of the bar and attention to detail like the disappearing bar end bungees.
