Ozone Says:

The latest Edge has been completely re-shaped in our new highly advanced custom built CAD software. We have optimised panel layout and strut position resulting in a cleaner profile and canopy throughout angle of attack changes. The new Edge feels and flies much smoother and is more controlled and stable during loaded riding and at high speeds. Additionally the optimised strut placement allows the wingtip to flex which reduces steering forces and speeds up handling.

The bridles are spliced using high quality Aramid line, which is 50% thinner than our standard bridle line giving the Edge a turbo charged feel. For this season we have added a 5m, 6m and 8m for lighter riders or Foil board racing. This allows riders of all sizes to choose exactly what they need in a regatta or for freeride mega boosting on those high wind days.

Our Testers Say:

“Upwind machine that flies really far forward but can also boost big air with one of the longest hangtimes of any kite tested. Even power delivery through turns and handles gust with ease,” Dray Murray.

“This kite goes sky high and shines in upwind beats. The glide you get while in the air is unreal but a kite like this has slower turning speed,” Jason Kane.

“Excellent combo for power, stability and great upwind with smooth bar action and sweet launch and feel,” Pat O’Connor.

Meet the 2015 TKB Test Team.

TKB Says:

The Edge is a 5-strut high aspect upwind machine which is known for its big boosting and massive hangtime as well as its course racing pedigree. The Edge inflates easily with a high flow Boston valve that requires the larger inflation nozzle, features a single setting fixed front bridle, two steering settings on the wingtip and Ozone’s super thin aramid bridle lines. Testers praised the Edge for its easy upwind ability, large boosting capabilities and standout hangtime. Testers commented on the Edge’s slower turning speed and limited drift for waveriding, but acknowledged it’s strengths which is parking it far forward, rocketing upwind and boosting huge airs.

Ozone didn’t have the 2015 Contact Control System in stock in time for our test so we tested the Edge with last year’s bar which is a fixed length bar (45, 50, 55cm). This clean yet functional bar features a single center line safety depower, plastic coated depower/throw line, and an above bar depower cleat. The push away quick release features a hand operated quick release swivel that doubles as a travel guard. Testers liked the simplicity of the bar with smaller diameter and smooth EVA grip and attention to details like the disappearing bar end bungees.

You can find the new 2015 bar which we did not test here: https://ozonekites.com/products/control-systems/contact-water-control-system/
