LF Says:

Featuring smaller diameter struts, a smaller leading edge, and new lightweight materials, this year’s kite weighs a whopping 1⁄4 less than the 2014 model. Lighter and more efficient than ever, the ENVY turns quicker and moves faster through the window, offering nimble response and amplified high-wind performance. Delivering a crisper feel and more of a direct connection to the kite, the 2015 ENVY uses a lower profile pulley-less bridle, the Bridge Bridle, which reduces drag and increases efficiency.

Engineered with added sweep in the wingtips, the ENVY is easier to relaunch than ever. This refinement also produces a silky smooth power band for seamless power/depower and more definitive kite control. Without sacrificing strength or durability, the ENVY uses lightweight marcloth material in the Layered Frame, which reduces the need for heavy Dacron. This creates a graduated connection between the rip-stop and Dacron materials, resulting in increased performance, strength, durability, and longevity.

Our Testers Say:

“Solid all around kite, love the new bar with the above the bar cleat that works way better than last year’s below the bar setup, and new grip is really comfortable as well,” Dray Murray.

“Welcome to the park and ride, set it and forget it kite that is fun to jump with good boost, master spinning tricks with no surprises and easy to land. SF Giants colors on the bar a plus,” John Steimle.

“Very easy kite to fly, smooth power delivery even when turning aggressively and would make an excellent beginner kite while still doing everything well for progression,” Aaron Stephens.

LIQUIDFORCE-ENVY-2015-GEAR-REVIEW-02

TKB Says:

The Envy is a completely different kite for 2015 with serious reductions in weight and a ground up redesign which earned solid praise from testers. The Envy is 3-strut medium aspect freeride kite with swept back wingtips that offers the quickest inflation with LF’s large diameter inflation valve which requires a proprietary LF pump nozzle. (The envy has a standard 9mm valve if you loose the extra wide nozzle) The Envy features a single setting fixed front bridle, three steering settings on the wingtips. Testers gave the Envy high praise for its stable flying, impressive boosting and hangtime. Testers liked the Envy’s responsive steering and intuitive smooth progressive sheeting and power delivery with light to medium bar pressure and recommended it for freeride, big air boosting and casual unhooked freestyle.

The Envy comes with the all new Response Control Bar which is a one size fits all adjustable length bar (46 and 56cm) that can be adjusted on the water. The Response Control features a single center-line safety depower, spectra sheeting/throw line with a sliding stopper, low V, above the bar cam cleat that is easily adjusted to accommodate longer throw length without disturbing the kite’s tuning as well as a Velcro tuning line which keeps tuning slack from tangling under depowered conditions. The push away quick release is easy to reassemble with two hands and integrates a below the bar hand swivel that doubles as a travel guard and a molded loop and finger lock. There’s an above the bar swivel and the integrated bar ends have a hiding winder bungee and allow riders to adjust the length of the outside lines for stretch or tuning. Testers liked the ergonomic grip, plush density of the texture bar and praised the adjustability and ease of use in a relatively lightweight and clean design.
