SWITCH Nitro4
Sizes Available: 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16m
Sizes Tested: 8,10, 12m

Switch Says:

After 4 successful years, the Nitro is one of our top selling kites and has managed to create a cult like following. The key characteristics: lift, power, speed, ease of use and pure fun to fly, satisfy many and leave them convinced it’s the perfect kite.Big air has always been a major part of the Nitro’s ethos. We didn’t think it was possible but with the Nitro4 we have increased the height and hang time once again. By adding more bridle attachment points we managed to free up the kite despite its fixed bridle. This new bridle design allows the kite to tip steadily, and you will notice a smooth and gradual depower over the complete bar throw without losing steering.

Our Testers Say:

“High aspect kite that is fast through the window with wide big turns,” Davey Beard.

“Great all around kite with really good boost and hang time, medium plus bar pressure with good turning speed and upwind ability,” Dray Murray.

“Steady boosting kite with great hang time that came alive with quick turning speed with more bar input. This kite carried me the highest upwind all day,” Jason Kane.

SWITCH-NITRO-2015-GEAR-REVIEW-02

TKB Says:

The Nitro4 is a 5-strut high aspect open-C kite that is quick to inflate with a high flow Boston valve that requires the bigger nozzle attachment that comes standard with all pumps. The Nitro features a longer fixed single setting front bridle and three steering settings on the wingtip. Testers gave the Nitro high marks for its precise steering response and quick turning. Testers liked the Nitro’s impressive boosting and easy upwind ability. Testers commented on the kite’s medium plus bar pressure that required stronger input, its impressive depower and forward flying in the window. Testers felt this kite was really lively when in its high-end and recommend it for big air freestyle and riders that like to fly their kites actively in the waves.

SWITCH-NITRO-BAR-2015-GEAR-REVIEW-04

The Nitro4 features a single center-line safety depower, spectra sheeting/throw line with sliding stopper, an above the bar tuning cleat with adjustable length throw, above the bar swivel and a low V. The Controller2 dual adjustable length bar which came with our test kites is an add-on option. The push away quick release features a below the bar hand swivel that doubles as a travel guard, a molded finger lock, tunable outside lines under the floats and nifty retractable winding bungees. Testers commented on the Controller2’s aggressive medium density grip pattern but gave the bar high marks for its wide array of features.
