The 2014/15 Bighorn Snowkite Summit took place from December 1 -7 2014 at Mount Baldy in the Bighorn National Forest, hosted by the Wyoming High Country Lodge. A less structured approach this year allowed amateurs and professionals from walks speak freely about their opinions on the future and direction of snowkiting as a sport. As more and more riders choose to “glide” (or fly) by kite than ever before, the practice has quickly become a prominent topic of discussion, and because “flying” seems to be here to stay (despite safety concerns from some and outright opposition from others), we salute the snowkiters who contribute to events such as the Bighorn Snowkite Summit. Their work is leading our sport and kite communities toward setting a much-needed bar for “safe” strategies in flight.
