Lord of the Wind – Day Two

It was another great day of wind and racing in Los Barriles, Baja Mexico, with Lord of the Wind slalom racing starting promptly at 11:00 am. In the Men’s Open, Bille Kipling and Daniel Cosio battled it out with Daniel taking first in the first heat, and Bille taking third. In the second heat, Bille found his groove and secured first, while Daniel dropped to fourth crossing the finish line.

In the Women’s Open, Justi Vonada, Fiona Wylde and Jennifer Friday kept the crowd on their toes. All three women have an intensely competitive side that manifested as each of the heats progressed. Justi showing her superior skills, edged out ahead to claim a well-earned victory in each of her heats.

Gabor Vági and Jim Naylor went head-to-head in the Men’s Masters with Jim winning the first heat and Gabor winning the remaining two.

In the Men’s Elite class, Southern California native Bryan Lake dominated both heats with consecutive victories. Airush team rider Julien Kerneur placed second and La Ventana local Adam Withington stayed closely behind to round out the top three spots.

Astrid Berz‘s aggressive nature shocked her fellow competitors with her loud animalistic yells at the start of each race. She clearly had her sights set on winning and finished first in both heats. Best Kiteboarding team riders Kris Kinn and Rachel Callahan fought hard to keep up with Astrid’s intensity and finished second and third in each of the two races.
