The Ivanpah Buggy Blast dates are confirmed. From April 1 – 5, 2014, kite buggiers, landboarders, land sailors, and other wind enthusiasts from around the country will gather at one of the most incredible spots in the world to enjoy flying kites and talking wind.
The industry event is hosted by the Buggy Blast Crew at Ivanpah Dry Lake, just outside Las Vegas, Nevada, and it is open to everyone, as a great opportunity to try out the latest gear. Whether you are a seasoned veteran, beginner, or spectator there will be plenty of action.
Many wind enthusiasts visiting Ivanpah Dry Lake don’t realize how close they are to one of the best kite surfing locations in the US, Lake Mohave. Plan for a full week’s stay and kite water in the desert before, get wet and enjoy a refreshing dip before covering yourself in dust at Ivanpah.
Event organizers will arrive at Lake Mohave on March 29th and staying until March 31, before heading over the mountain to Ivanpah through the beautiful Joshua Tree preserve. Total time from Playa to Playa is 1 hour. All locations require participants to “Pack-It-In and Pack-It-Out” — bring everything you need, including lots of water and sunscreen.
Riders interested in participating in events or demoing gear must register. Family, friends and spectators, however, are welcome to come watch, take pictures, and talk about how and why we harness the wind for free. Questions?
