The Fly was designed for freeriding and freestyle in light to marginal wind conditions. It is exceptionally lightweight for its size and has amazing low-end power. This is primarily due to the Fly’s proven two-strut, easy-handling design, which also provides superior turning and control. The Fly utilizes swept back wingtip shaping, which improves water relaunching in light wind conditions.
The Fly idea came from the idea that riding in light wind should be fun. Just because the wind is light, you shouldn’t necessarily have to use a kite designed for racing, so we created the Fly as a fast turning, lightweight and fun to ride kite in the lowest of wind conditions.

The Naish fly is a lower aspect 2-strut kite which was on the smaller side of the kite size spectrum in our light wind test. The Fly comes with Naish’s internal octopus inflation system which uses standard 9mm inflation/11mm dump valves on the leading edge and one way internal distribution strut valves which require 9mm deflate valves on each strut for deflation. The kite features three rear wingtip attachment settings, three front bridle attachment settings, full Dacron trailing edge, and a single batten off the leading edge in place of the center strut. Testers gave high praise for the Fly’s medium-light bar pressure, user-friendly sheeting, and responsive turning. The Fly generated good low-end power for its size and earned solid praise for its boost and hangtime when powered. Compared to the race kites in our test, the Fly didn’t have quite the same upwind ability, but it was much more responsive and lively for freestyle in anything above threshold sub-teens wind.
The Naish Fly came with the Universal Control System which features a push away quick release, single center line safety depower, below bar tuning cleat, above bar swivel, sliding stopper and innovative adjustable length bar ends (45 to 51cm). At 51cm the Fly has one of the shorter bars in the test but our testers found the kite had good turning response when adequately powered. The quick release is a clean, compact mechanism that is easy to reassemble. The below the bar tuning allows for longer throw and easy to use cleat tuning, while the adjustable sliding stopper makes the bar customizable for different size riders. Overall the bar is clean, lightweight and rich with well thought out features.
