Blade Says:

Back again for the 6th year in a row, the Trigger is once again packed with all the quality characteristics it is known for. Big air boosting, amazing wave performance and skill building attributes make this all around kite an optimal choice for energetic and lively riders. At the core of the design is super quick turning and efficient power delivery, making the Trigger a truly user-friendly kite. An 8m is added to this year’s lineup due to popular demand and the 12 -14m range has undergone LE refinement for improved low-end capabilities. The smaller sized kites benefit from added stability for gustier wind conditions, while packing enough speed and agility to keep you ripping in all extreme conditions! With a unique profile shape and complex LE design, the Trigger has amazing versatility for kiteboarders of all styles and levels.

Our Testers Say:

“This kite will send you to the moon when you’re jumping, but also drifts nice for playing in the waves,” Davey Beard.

“Really fun to ride, solid responsive, quick turning, great power range and all around excellent kite stoked on this one,” Eric MaCauliffe.

“Quick turning and responsive with an easy and quick relaunch. The bar is clean, light and compact although the tuning reach was long for my shorter arms,” Cherie Costello.

Meet the 2014 TKB Test Team.

TKB Says:

The Trigger is a 3-strut medium-high aspect kite. The kite comes with the standard construction features such as the 9mm inflation / 11mm dump valve, but caught many testers off guard with its impressive performance. Testers found the Trigger to build good power, offer significant range, precise steering response and quick turning speed. All the testers praised its excellent boost for big lofty jumps and its predictability even in gusty conditions. The Trigger is one of the few kites that had lighter bar pressure yet scored high in all other areas of performance. Testers felt this kite was an excellent freestyle kite but also offered the drift and depower they would want for wave riding.

BLADE-TRIGGER-CONTROL-BAR-2014-GEAR-REVIEW

The Trigger came with the Unibar which features a unique aluminum frame, adjustable length bar ends (44-52cm), sliding stopper, above bar tuning cleat and push away quick release. Testers liked that the cam cleat could be moved to change the length of the throw to accommodate different sized riders as well as the comfortable stamped EVA grip. Most testers were ambivalent about the upward bend that is built into the bar. The above the bar swivel may need some help from time to time, but testers found the quick release can be reset easily on the water without any hassle.
