Kicking off a “Summer of Sailing” on the San Francisco Bay, Kai Lenny recently challenged ORACLE TEAM USA to a drag race on the Bay.  The question was whether professional kiteboarder Kai Lenny could outrace the new state-of-the-art 72-foot catamaran of ORACLE TEAM USA. Pink slips were on the line when Lenny put his $1500 kiteboarding set-up against the $15 million boat. Racing on the same course that will host the 34th America’s Cup in September, the two side engaged in a battle between the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island.

Lenny, born and raised in Hawaii, is an all-around waterman — participating in kiteboarding, windsurfing, surfing and SUP events worldwide. He is the 2011 and 2012 World Racing SUP Champion. ORACLE TEAM USA will be defending its America’s Cup title in San Francisco this September.
