3Gisela Pulido and Julien Kerneur have won the PKRA Slalom event in Fuerteventura.  The wind remained epic with 30 knots throughout the day and riders were on 5 to 8 meter kites.  The Fuerteventura PKRA men’s World Cup title and prize was up for grabs until the last race of the day where 3 riders moved up in the rankings.  All competitors did an amazing job throughout the week of racing at top speeds in very challenging conditions.

Riders demonstrated how competitive and challenging slalom can be in high winds. Races started early so riders could have a long break in between heats and to avoid even stronger winds in the evening.  The prize ceremony was held after four full races. Julien Kerneur, Oswald Smith, Reno Romeu, Gisela Pulido, Paula Novotna and Karolina Winkoska were called to the podium. Racers were happy to claim their prizes knowing that they had taken part in the first PKRA Slalom event ever at Fuerteventura.

This was a great slalom event; it pushed the boundaries of kite racing and showed how exciting this discipline can be.  The next slalom event will be in Turkey in three weeks, with another $10,000 up for grabs.  Freestyle competition at Fuerteventura starts today.
