barz-san-juan

Protect your eyes with this new design from Barz Optics. Stylish, and yes they do float. $79.95-$109.95, www.murrays.com/barz

Barz Says:

The San Juan high-tech frame is molded in three parts with the first two components sonic welded to create air cells before being placed back into the injection molder where the sanaprene non-slip components are attached. Fitted with our 1.1mm triacetate lenses the San Juan has a buoyancy of 0.95gm/ml meaning they will float in even the most turbulent water.

The high wrap frame gives great protection from the side eliminating glare, wind, and spray while offering great peripheral vision. Available in matte black, matte Tortoiseshell, and matte gray.

TKB Says:

Available in a wide range of colors and lens options, the Barz San Juan sunglasses are meant to be worn both on water and on land. They look like a pair of standard sunglasses but have one really big advantage for water use – they float.

Our tester commented that the San Juan’s frame is flexible and comfortable. He used them while kiting and stand up paddling in the surf without any leash or strap, but he recommends adding one in high wind or bigger surf. The San Juans were knocked off his head once during a fall, but they float and they were easy to find in the relatively calm conditions.

Our tester also commented that the wrap-around frame kept out the sun without fogging.

If you are looking for a pair of sunglasses to use both on and off the water the Barz San Juan is worth a look.
