From Best Kiteboarding:

Best are proud to introduce the industry’s first, free, fair and reasonable lifetime warranty.

Some manufacturers offer you 90 days warranty cover. Some brands make a big deal of giving you extended warranty cover that doesn’t even last a full season. At BEST we offer the longest and fairest warranty in the industry. We give you a lifetime guarantee that everything we make will be free from material and manufacture defects for as long as it is owned by the original purchaser. Register your new gear online today to be covered, forever.

The thinking behind our Lifetime Fair and Reasonable warranty is simple: If you take care of your gear you deserve to be taken care of as well. That’s why BEST accepts warranty submissions from careful customers regardless of how old their equipment is. In fact we approved 95% of all warranties requests for 2008 kites submitted during the 2011 season.

While we are always generous when dealing with warranty claims there are some cases that we would consider to be beyond the reach of even our generosity.

If your kite is showing heavy signs of repeated crash damage and fails due to accumulated misuse, then that’s probably not a warranty, but we salute you for charging hard.

If you shred the bottom of your board on a reef, break fins on the beach or snap a surf board messing up big-air, there’s nothing we can do for you, s_*t happens. Brian might bust you a bro deal if you’ve been really unlucky, so always be nice to the warranty guy.

If you are lucky enough to ride for hours, nearly every day and you wear your kite out after a full season, then that’s fair wear and tear, we are jealous, but it’s still not a warranty.

If you lose your kite due to carelessness, improper use or simply ignoring wear on replaceable parts, while we feel your pain, it’s not a warranty issue. Don’t be such a tight-wad, replace those consumable parts. It’s cheaper in the long run.

If you wipe out while surfing and the kite canopy rips while going through the spin cycle. Sorry, that sucks, we build them as tough as we can, but even the most advanced Ripstop on the planet won’t win that fight every time.

If your kite or board color changes after extended exposure in the sun. We’re sorry but just like your skin kites and boards are affected by UV as well, expect some color change.

If you attach a digital camera to your kite to record that gnarly jump and your kite falls out of the sky and crashes because of the excess weight. Sorry, the warranty only applies when the product is used in an unmodified state. Hire a film crew, in fact hire Miguel, his rates are really reasonable and he’s a great guy to work with.

If you repair your kite and then it gives way again in the same spot you already repaired. Sorry, the warranty only applies to unrepaired and unmodified original equipment.

If you sell your used kite to your cousin Joe who is just learning to kite and the kite magically gets shredded soon thereafter. Sorry, warranty applies only to original purchaser of equipment.

If you want a replacement on a kite you purchased eons ago because it “just” fell apart. Sorry, but the warranty applies only to 2009 and later products. Of course it never hurts to ask though; we aim to please wherever we possibly can.

The above list highlights most of the circumstances that probably won’t be covered under our Fair and Reasonable warranty. But if you have a legitimate request and we think it’s Fair and Reasonable, you can be assured that we’ll provide you with outstanding customer service. All warranty offers are at our discretion and the final decision in any case rests with BEST.

So you think you’ve got a legitimate request? Get in touch with the shop where you bought the gear (the original point of purchase), and the warranty investigation process will begin from there. If you bought the gear from BEST online, call us or email us directly. If you bought the gear at one of our Authorized Best dealers, get in touch with them.

The warranty ONLY applies to products bought directly from us or from an Authorized Best dealer. Secondhand purchases, or EBay purchases (and the like) are not covered under warranty, even if the products were listed as “new” or appear to be sold via a shop through EBay.

This Fair and Reasonable Warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights that may vary from state to state or jurisdiction. If you have any questions about our limited warranty or would like to schedule a return, simply contact our Customer Service by phone at 1-866-700-BEST, or (252) 489-2959 if you are outside the US or Canada, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, EST.
