The forecasted winds never showed up today in Pismo Beach, but plenty of kiteboarders still made their way to the event site to check out the plethora of new 2011 kiteboaridng gear that was on the beach. Starting at 9 am, riders began to demo SUP boards in excellent SUP conditions. Ben Wilson gave a great advanced surf beach clinic that even experienced kitesurfers found extremely useful.
Throughout the day, the wind teased participants by hovering in the 8-10 knot range for hours. A few riders were able to get out on light wind specific kites and large boards or SUP boards.
The famous Maui Mike and his family hosted a delicious BBQ dinner here at beach which was followed by another amazing raffle. The big prizes today included a Flexifoil board, Wainman Hawaii Joke, GSI surfboard, North harness, 7-Day Vela Kitesurf vacation, a Slingshot RPM, and a Best Nemesis.
Kinsley ThomasWong made his way to the beach twice today to say hello to his many kiteboarding friends who showed up to the event to show their support for him.
