Today the El Norte winds showed up again in La Ventana, making today another action filled day here at the 2011 La Ventana Classic and KiteXpo. To start today, the SUP crowd competed in one and two mile short course racing. The one mile race involved three laps around a small course, with a run up and down the beach between laps.

As the SUP races were finishing, the wind line was marching towards the beach, and soon kites were put up in the air as kiteboarders continued to demo the latest gear from the 10 manufacturers here at the demo. As soon as possible, the continuation of the Big Air/Old School contest was started, and the competitors pulled out all the stops and put on an amazing show for the cameras and large crowd on the beach. The action was non-stop, but we’ll have to hold off on announcing the results until the awards ceremony at Pizza Vela tomorrow.

The wind was still strong after the Big Air, so the course racing was started quickly. Four races were completed today, with more coming tomorrow.

Tonight was Caution fight night, which was a full on Lucha Libre on the beach in front of Baja Joe’s. After much carnage, team Precaucion was victorious with El Spitfire and El Zombie winning by playing a little dirty. Capping off the night, one lucky raffle winner went homw with a brand new 2011 Caution Spitfire.
