La Ventana Classic Update and Photos for 1/23/2010

Today the La Ventana Classic, an 11-mile kiteboarding race from Isla Cerallvo to La Ventana was held. Early this morning more than 100 kiteboarders loaded up into a fleet of Pangas to make the crossing. Once the wind was filled in throughout the entire course, the racers took off. For the men, Sean Farley defended his title, followed by Shawn Richman and Damien LeRoy. Marie LeClerc finished first for the women, and remains undefeated as the first-to-finish woman in every La Ventana Classic. Marie was followed by Cynthia Brown and Shane Gormley.

The rest of the day was spent demoing the fine new kiteboarding equipment brought down by the manufacturers. For free, registered participants are able to try the latest 2010 kiteboarding gear.

Tonight was finished off with a great party with live music and dancing at the Round House.
