This Week:
This week, Nelscott Reef is world renowned as a world-class big wave tow in spot when the conditions set up just right. It’s also home and close to many of Central Oregon’s prime flat water and wave spots.
Our specials guests this week are John Forse, organizer of the Nelscott Reef Tow In Classic, along with pro rider and instructor Jeff Kafka, who John has brought in as a consultant to help organize and run a legitimate kite contest. Jeff is also a big wave tow-in surfer who was the first kitesurfer to kite Maverick’s earlier this year as well as one of the top freestylers and kite racers in North America.
The contest is open to 20 pros (invite only) and 20 amateurs who will compete in boarderX, wave riding and a 5-mile downwind race for a $5K purse (pros only) and trophies (amateurs).
